Located just 400 metres from the centre of the charming historic village of La Palme, this 200 year old house has recently been completely renovated and modernised. It's modest facade belies the extensive accommodation within.

Entering into a large Hallway you will see a fully fitted modern Kitchen with a large bright window overlooking the street. The kitchen has a large Fridge Freezer, Electric Oven, Gas Hob, Dishwasher, Microwave Oven and even a Gaggia Espresso Maker. Particularly well equipped with Cooking Utensils and all manner of kitchen gadgets.

Also off the entrance hall is found a large bathroom with double size shower, ideal for showering off after a long day on the nearby beach. Next to the Bathroom is a separate Laundry with washing machine and laundry sink.

A set of Double doors lead to the very large Lounge /Dining area which has a large Dining Table, Comfortable Sofas a 46" Flat Panel TV, UK Satellite Television, DVD Player and a good library of english language books and maps.

Two Sets of double doors lead to a large terrace equipped with a large Dining Table, Chairs and Parasol. To one side of the terrace is a built in barbecue and a wood burning Pizza Oven.

From the Lower Terrace a wide staircase leads up to the garden which has a 10m x 5m Swimming Pool with Roman Steps, a Pool House with tables and chairs and a sheltered pergola to escape the intensity of the mid day sun. Sun Loungers and Cushions are also provided for the pool terrace.

Going back inside, a wide staircase leads to the first floor which has four large double bedrooms. The main bedroom at the back of the house overlooks the pool and has an En-suite with separate shower and bath

Bedrooms Three and Four are to the front of the house and are each equipped with two single beds.

The final room on this floor is the family bathroom.

All bed linen is provided as are Beach Towels and Bath Towels.

Summary: On arrival, the house was impeccably clean, the on-site briefing by the owner, and the notes on the house that he had written up for guests, were very useful. He lives nearby and is easily contactable. The kitchen is excellently equipped with everything even a large family group, as ours was (3 adults, 5 children), could require for a two-week stay. The beds in the 3 bedrooms were very comfortable and the new free-standing electric fans provided were a boon in the extreme heat during our two-week stay. The modern bathrooms and a shower-room are nicely equipped, and towels are provided for both indoor and outdoor (including beach!) use. Further, the washing machine and the dishwasher functioned impeccably despite the heavy use we put them to. The Wifi was totally reliable and stable throughout the property, including at the poolside. The patio with its large sun umbrella covering the equally large (plexiglass?) dining table was a very welcome amenity. We did not use the pizza oven, or the table tennis table or the boules, but their presence reflects the owner's clear concern to ensure that guests have a variety of possibilities for passing the time on the property. And of course a highlight is the excellent pool, suitable for adults and children, and its surrounds. There are shaded as well as sunbathing areas, with poolside armchairs -- although these latter are not overly comfortable when sitting in a reading position. As far as we were concerned the one negative aspect was the staircase which is uneven, while the shaky metal banister does not inspire confidence. This may not concern younger people, but for older folk (in our case in the early to mid-80s though in good physical shape) they are likely to be something of a concern. The owner, however, says he intends he intends to make it more user-friendly, in particular by the replacement of the metal banister with a strong wooden one as soon as possible. There is no specific parking, but the area in front of the house on the street is treated, apparently by the local police as well as locals, as belonging to the house. La Palme itself, however, is far from a lively village, with only basic amenities -- a boulangerie, a small grocery store, three restaurants of variable quality, but a nice open-air bar run by a local man who switched from wine- to beer-making. There is also an excellent pharmacy. For serious household provisions one has to drive some 10 kilometres to the nearest hypermarket
