Sweet Cottage was built in 1940 and she is in an awesome location both due to the waterway she is on, which is about 20 feet from cottage, also the convenience of how close to amenities she is. City of Bath 1/2 mile. Boothbay Harbor 30 minutes. Freeport 20, Portland 30. Popham Beach or Reid State Parks are also very close about 20 minutes. If you like to fish this is definitely your spot!
Fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar. I stock what I consider to be essential spices, coffee, tea and some food. Whatever is here guests are free to use. Dining table with a view on front enclosed porch. New 8' picnic table outside and a swing.
Smaller living room equipped with internet and cable and of course Netflix as well as board games.
Enclosed porch with fantastic views. Bathroom has a shower. Two bedrooms upstairs that both have a double and single bed in each room. Cottage does not have any private rooms. There is a divider to place between bedrooms. Upstairs is more of a loft sleeping area. Living room has a brand new sectional couch, also a couch on porch that may be used for sleeping.
Sweet Cottage is new to me, so first I felt concentration on the waterfront was essential. I had stairs built down to the shore. Diving from rock at the bottom is fine at high tide. There are 8' tides in this area. Small beach and quite shallow at low.
There are no neighbors to the right of the Cottage. Neighbor to the left owns both the cottage next to mine and the green house where she resides. She asks that folks do not park in front of her cottage.
Sweet Cottage is near the mouth of the Sasanoa River, which by boat you can get out to the ocean and Boothbay Harbor, Five Islands, Fort Popham and beyond. Around the corner under the bridge is the "Mighty Kennebec" river. Headed that way you can go to Merrymeeting Bay where 5 rivers converge, or Richmond and beyond to Maine's state capital Augusta. South of the bridge on the Kennebec you may also access the ocean and head out to Popham Beach and drive by the fort.
There is plenty of current as these rivers are tidal so respect for the water is a must.
Wildlife here is abundant. Both in the water and around Sweet Cottage. Seals, Striped bass, mackerel, sturgeon, blue fish and eels are a few species in this waterway. Watch the seals fish for dinner at low tide, as well as the Eagles and Osprey. Around Sweet Cottage there are deer, fox, raccoon, skunk, chipmunks, and many species of birds.
There is plenty to do right here at the cottage, and if you have a boat even more! Kayak rentals are available from Seaspray Kayak and they will deliver.
