Havnebyen is not far away, the only real fishing harbor on the peninsula with cutters and a smokehouse. There you can buy fresh and freshly smoked fish. If you come out to Gniben, at the very tip of the peninsula, you can fish from the beach. You can also walk through the army artillery school there. You might also visit the fairy-tale Dragsholm Castle from the 13th century. It houses a ghost and an excellent gourmet restaurant. On the glacial Odsherred headland, you'll feel like you're in a geopark. On it you will find along the Tumulus Road, with the barrows and burial mounds, witnesses of the Stone and Bronze Ages, the remains of a forest village in Ulkerup abandoned 300 years ago, the Hempel Glass Museum and in the Odsherred Museum the copy of the sun chariot found in the Trundholm Mose bog. You will also see the erratic boulder Lommesten and the castle Næsholm Borg, which stands on a small island in the lake Nygård Sø between Højby and Nykøbing Sj. Children will love seeing the many fire engines at the Odsherred Fire Museum, or you can take a seal safari from the harbor in Rørvig. Also visit the harbor of Rørvig, here you can expect a cozy atmosphere, a fish smokehouse, an associated restaurant and the ferry connection to North Zealand. Enjoy smoked fish here while your children catch crabs on the pier.
