The New London Hideaway is a historic 1898 home located on a private road, flanked by woods, yet just minutes away from Ocean Beach Park, lively Bank Street, the train station, L&M Hospital, historic Mystic, Millstone, Pfizer and General Dynamics. Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos are just a quick 25 minute drive away. Foodies will be pleased with the wide variety of cuisines available, but if you want to stay home you will have a full kitchen, many delivery options, and an outdoor dining area.
“Whalecome” to the New London Hideaway’s Captain Cod’s Quarters! Apartment #2 is made up of the entire lower floor. There is 1200 sq ft of living space, with 3 unique and eclectic bedrooms, a cozy living room with comfy furniture, an oversized ottoman to put your feet up on and a 52” TV. The is a full kitchen with a small table for enjoying a snack or morning coffee. The eating area is located in the living room area a comfortably seats four. There is a large bathroom with a full sized tub/shower stall and a combination washer/dryer designed for smaller loads. The Captain’s Quarters has a mix of modern furnishings and vintage beachy treasures, all in a warm and relaxing pallet. The Hideaway is right in the heart of New London, but has the feel of being tucked away in the peaceful countryside. You may hear an occasional train whistle or fog horn sounding in the distance, enhancing the charming, far away atmosphere of the place. A private entrance is on the front of the house. Just look for the Golden Cod to point the way to your door. You will be sure to notice the house’s little idiosyncrasies, like a variety of slightly slanted floors, hardwood in the bathroom, original wainscoting, and plaster and lath with it’s characteristic little imperfections. All this adds to the elderly home’s quaint character and charm! You won’t forget your stay at the Hideaway!
The entire lower floor is usable space with the exception of the stairs in the front hallway leading to the upstairs and to the front door, this is an emergency exit only.
I am just minutes away, as is Steve, my trusted friend, handyman and cleaning enthusiast. There is a message board at the foot of the stairway with contact information for both of us. I am also always reachable through the Airbnb app by text or call. I may appear now and then to work in the yard or restock and say hello. I enjoy meeting and chatting with my guests if I get the chance.
The larger bedroom has a queen bed and large closet. The second bedroom has a twin bed, a small desk, a clothes closet, dresser and a storage closet holding 2 folding mini cribs, a highchair and a pack and play. The third bedroom has a “baby bear” bed. An adorable little toddle bed, the width of a twin that can be extended into a regular twin sized bed. It’s the cutest little bed you’ll ever see and all the furniture is kid sized. An accommodation your little one will love. There is a second apartment with three bedrooms in the upper level of the house, also available separately for short term and mid-term rentals.
