The beach is unique among southern Maine's sandy beaches; it is over a mile long and is free of development. Save one house in over a mile, there are no homes situated directly on the beach dunes. The beach and area are outstanding for swimming, walking, surfing, and boating. There are spectacular views of Stratton Island, Shooting Rocks, and Black Point. There are excellent golf courses within 15 minutes of the house, public tennis courts and wildlife and bird sanctuaries. Public boat ramps are nearby.
