How you can make an IMPACT with $5 and by doing 5 things in 5 Minutes…(including the time it takes to read this)

Over the last year in particular, due in part to world news, I have found myself with feelings of inadequacy in the roles that I play – single mom, leader, non-profit resultant, daughter, sister, friend, job seeker – and in the causes I feel passionate about – gender equality and youth volunteering.

In order to move the needle on gender equality in particular, I try to mindfully break down the massive and daunting undertaking by focusing on setting my intentions each day to somehow make progress within my own small realm of the world. One step at a time.

And that brings me to my latest idea for making progress: $ 5 / 5 / 5

If you would like to do something but may not have the time to march, be a volunteeror get politically involved, this post is for you.

One of the non-profits that I am involved in and feel most passionately about is focused on women equality, WINiT – Women Leadership in Travel, Events, Meetings and Exhibitions. WINiT is represented by some of the biggest influencers and game changers in these industries: Staff, leaders, partners and companies who believe in the mission of equality.

Recently, WINiT launched our first fundraising campaign specifically to provide a vehicle for our Members and Donors to have an IMPACT on equality. We can all have an IMPACT in just a few minutes of time and by donating as little as the cost for a cup of coffee.

What Equality Issue?

According to the International Labour Organization Women at Work Trends Report 2016, “Globally, the gender wage gap is estimated to be 23 per cent; in other words, women earn 77 per cent of what men earn. ”

Interestingly, “…women’s movements and organizations have traditionally played a key role in the advocacy of women’s economic, social and political rights and remain key motors of social change.”

This is not just the right thing to do. It is a sound business decision to improve shareholder value.

The New York Times article Women in Company Leadership Tied to Stronger Profits cited “…the data was clear about women in top management positions. An increase in the share of women from zero to 30 percent would be associated with a 15 percent rise in profitability.”

WINiT programming directly addresses the leadership development needs of women and plays a key role for the industries we serve.

Think Women’s Movements are Just for Women?

Think again.

We can only change these statistics when both genders work together.

WINiT is incredibly grateful to the gentlemen who were part of our Founding Leaders. To name a few: Doug Anderson, Peter Bates, Mike Bingham, Marc Casto, Tony D’Astolfo, Hank Benedetti, Richard Crum, Paul van Deventer, Ron DiLeo, Lane Dubin, Kurt Ekert, Peter Greenberg, Dave Hilfman, Chuck Imhof, Kevin Iwamoto, Kurt Knackstedt, Greeley Koch, Mike Koetting, Craig Kreeger, Kevin Maguire, Paul Metselaar, David Meyer, Brad Seitz, Micheal Share, Steve Singh, Jim Sisco, Scott Solombrino, John Snyder, Phillip Tau, Joseph Valenza, Rich Venezio and many more!
